Free bus and metro rides for the women of Delhi; patriarchy commands AAP's new policy


New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced free bus and metro rides for women all across the national capital. AAP claims that their mega project will ensure the safety of women. With tall claims accompanying the announcement, female commuters in Delhi are struggling to connect the dots of this scheme.
Under this project, women will not be required to pay fares while travelling by metro or buses run by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The AAP claims that this policy will make public transport safer for its female commuters.
Everyday, several female commuters have to fight their way in to the buses only to feel harassed by the end of the day. The DTC buses have borne testimony to several cases of harassment and molestation. However, the government's new claim of making them safer seems to be a facade.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi to attend Modi’s swearing-in ceremony tomorrow

Congress  president  Rahul Gandhi  and UPA chairperson  Sonia Gandhi  will attend  Narendra Modi  swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported.
